Eric May reads from his stunning debut novel, Bedrock Faith. At times funny, tender and raw, the novel tells the story of a tightknit community on Chicago's south side dealing with the fallout when neighbor Gerald "Stew Pot" Reeves gets out of prison and returns home.

A Chicago native and former reporter for the Washington Post, May is an associate professor in the Creative Writing Department of Columbia College, Chicago. His fiction and nonfiction have appeared in numerous publications. Bedrock Faith honors include: Booklist‘s Top 10 First Novels of 2014; O, The Oprah Magazine’s, Ten Books to Pick Up Now, April 2014; Chicago Tribune/Printers Row, One of Five Books to Read Now; Publishers Weekly, a Notable African-American Title.
