Event Details

Stolen Beauty by Laurie Lico Albanese. Stolen Beauty is the story of two Jewish women living in Vienna: Adele Bloch-Bauer, the model for Gustav Klimt's "The Woman in Gold" painting and a belle of Viennese society in 1900, and Maria Altmann, Adele's niece, who watches helplessly as her home is seized and plundered when the Nazis invade in 1936. Maria must summon the courage and resilience that is her aunt's legacy if she is to survive and keep her family's history alive after she and her husband flee Austria for the United States. Refreshments provided. Register and pick up books at the Adult Desk starting December 9 at 10 am. Registration required.
