A young aspiring photographer named Dorothea Lange arrives in San Francisco in 1918. Dorothea is grateful for the fast friendship of Caroline Lee, a vivacious, straight-talking Chinese American, who introduces Dorothea to Monkey Block, an artists’ colony, and the bohemian heart of the city.

Registration required. Call the library to register and reserve a copy of the book for pickup at the hold shelf or drive-up window.

In its seventh year, One Book, One Community (OBOC) is a partnership among Cook Memorial Public Library, Indian Trails Public Library and Vernon Area Public Library to bring a community read to our residents. OBOC sparks conversations around the themes of the chosen book.
