Early Blues Music

2:00 PM - 3:00 PM
Indian Trails Public Library District - Main
Lake-Cook Room

Event Details

Early blues music was filled with excitement, where composers experimented with sharp and flat notes, introducing repetitive chords and the new twelve-bar phrase. Some publishers resisted, wanting sixteen-bar verses. Join St. Louis piano/percussion duo Cherry and Jerry as they share stories about blues music’s evolution, from classics like “St. Louis Blues” and “Crazy Blues” to lesser-known tunes, spanning from 1910s ragtime-inspired tracks to those foreshadowing today’s music. Registration required.
